Geminid meteor shower tonight
Best viewing midnight - 3 AM, but any time after 9 PM is OK.

Those are EST (GMT - 5:00), but the basic rules apply everywhere.

More detail here.

Another one I'll miss. Cloudy weather on tonight's forecast.

Saw half a dozen on my way home last night from the city. Looking forward to seeing some good ones tonight!

So many cats, so few good recipes.

RE: Geminid meteor shower tonight
It's actually at it's peak during the daylight hours for North America... but the night will still be a nice show. I've been seeing the lead up for a few nights now and I think I've counted at least 4 in any given hour. These seem to have an interesting trajectory.

Usually meteors appear to come from a fairly specific place in the sky and scoot kind of sideways through the sky as they fizzle out. It looks similar to a stone skipping on water.

But these seem to be coming from any and all directions and they look to be falling straight down. Peculiar... I haven't read anything about this particular shower or where it comes from but there must be a reason for such an odd atmospheric entry these meteors have.

I would love it if a bunch would just pummel the shit out of my house and yard! Smile
