Genghis Khan and carbon footprint
Well, it seems killing 40 million people was good for the environment in the 13th century.

The wars led in his name killed some 40 million people (about 10% of the world’s population at the time)! But, as a new study showed, these bloody conquests helped the environment – removing nearly 700 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere.

Also, here's a graph of the deadliest events in human history and Genghis Khan is the leader.

This graph doesn't include contagious diseases and plagues which I'd think have killed more than war.

Yabbut ----

Killing all the people probably reduced the carbon output -- but burning all the villages probably put it all back....

But hey -- at least he's carbon neutral......

So to save the planet, what we need is a more environmentally friendly method of encouraging mass extermination. Like cars that run off human blood.

What's interesting is the graph shows the equivalent in today's population which, if I'm reading it right, is over 800 million people. That's almost three of the United States's population dead.

I'd like to see some stats on the carbon footprint of WW II. Bet it wasn't so good.

The Mongols also bred so many horses, that couldn't be good for the carbon trail.

And I am clueless to what impact all the river diverting would have.
