Get things into perspective
On January 5, NASA released an image of the Andromeda Galaxy, a huge one: 1.5 billion pixel image (69,536 x 22,230) and requires about 4.3 GB disk space.

With "7,398 exposures taken over 411 individual pointings", it shows about 100 million stars.

“For as long as there been humans we have searched for our place in the cosmos. Where are we? Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a hum-drum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.”
― Carl Sagan

Jibbers. Fucking. Crabst.

Soulless mutants of muscle and intent. There are billions of us; hardy, smart and dangerous. Shaped by millions of years of death. We are the definitive alpha predator. We build monsters of fire and stone. We bottled the sun. We nailed our god to a stick.

In man's struggle against the world, bet on the man.

If that doesn't make you want to go out there and take a look around, nothing will.
Truly extraordinary!

Well that was trippy.

Never mistake the grandeur of the cosmos for god.

Mind blown.

beautiful.

its just amazing, all that out there, but yet this one little spec of dust we are on is still so precious to us, even if we found another earth we couldnt reach it.

maybe someday, if we don't bake ourselves first.

Truly awe inspiring, amazing and beautiful. No "Creator" necessary to feel that way either.

Exactly the way I felt.

But seriously, I felt so small. So tiny. Even my biggest problem sounds so stupid right now.

And it made me think: no matter how many times I see things about the universe that blow my mind, videos of huge stars, documentaries about inimaginable distances, or videos like this about millions upon millions of stars, thinking "Wow I never imagined it would be like this", because every time there is always something that surprises me even more.
