And most people would agree. I do. I'll bet KC does.

Yeah, I do.

But what is "enough force"? I want something that I know is going to be "enough force". A bullet is that.

People have the right to protect themselves and shouldn't have to play to the standards of their attacker.

The degree to which depends on the State. Self-defense is a tough sell in Maryland. We don't have no stupid "Stand Your Ground Laws" like you teaturds south of the border of reasonableness.

You're really going to stand behind the notion that it's a okay for a person to just get hit with a baseball bat but not killed while the attacker was neutralized? This is justice in your eyes? A person should just lie down and take it because not enough force is being induced to initiate death; therefore, the attacker has a right to live in that moment? If so, well... I don't even know what to say.

Give me some bear pepper spray and an ASP 21-inch expandable whip baton and I'll not only take out a bat-wielding face-eating bath salt crazy, but also most armed robbers 'cause they have a natural reluctance to shoot me (cops'll be called and they'll have to run without getting my cash, which I never carry anyway) and I have zero reluctance to bear pepper spraying their sorry ass and whipping the shit outta them with my baton. ... wait ... Consider ... think the bear pepper spray and the expandable whip baton might both be illegal in Maryland. Ah fuck 'em, I've had them for decades. Tongue

I've thought about pepper spray. I'd like to try it on myself as well. (Yeah I know I'm crazy)

Go read my Sean Taylor story and you might change your tune.

Because we all know 1 anecdotal story > than all data compiled on the increased risk having a gun in the house brings.

"Enough force" is whatever is needed to stop the situation. If Yelling or calling the cops is enough, then its enough. If I have to beat someone up. Thats enough. I dont want to kill someone. But like I said before, If I have to kill someone I will. If that makes me soft then thats just how I am. Guns just seem so single sighted. They aren't for me.

Exactly! I've seen so many statistics that say guns just cause more problems then they solve. Its just not worth it to me.

If not. Then you're gonna have to get to your gun and load it. If youre surprised in the middle of the night with someone looming over your bed, will you have time to do that?

No. I keep it loaded next to me. The bullet isn't chambered and the safety is on.

The chambering action is so hard on my 9mm that QC can't even do it.

*note I'm just making an extreme example, I would never actually do this or endorse this*

My kids could literally play with my gun as a toy and they would be 100% safe... barring a pistol whip.

It is 100% impossible for a non-chambered bullet to fire in a semi-automatic handgun; likewise, adding the fact that the safety is on, this increases my percentages of safety by another 100%... if that was possible. Physics are physics.

If someone was standing over my bed, I would indeed be in a lot of trouble because I would not have time to grab my gun, chamber it, and flip the safety... well maybe... not likely though.

I will however have ample time to stop an intruder if he breaks into the house and I'm not totally in an impractical deep sleep.

RE: Getting my CCL tomorrow.
It's not anecdotal, Rev. It's empirical. But yeah, that's all the only story I could find in my few minutes of Internet searching.

I would never be comfortable with little hobbit being around a loaded gun. Ever. Way too many stories of kids playing with them and killing themselves accidentally.

"I will however have ample time to stop an intruder if he breaks into the house and I'm not totally in an impractical deep sleep." Another "if". Its just too much of an if for me.
