Music Good Christian Music? and New Christmas Music
For many years I accepted "Christian music is terrible" as an axiom... then I started finding Christian music I liked.

First it was Trans-Siberian Orchestra, much of their music is religious, but it's Christmas music that isn't overplayed to hell and back so I figured it was a fluke.

Then I was listening to the Thousand Foot Krutch discography and found a song called "Small Town". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXbBmR0dqC4 I genuinely enjoy it, despite the lyrics. So I started wondering... but then I realized it would be the same if you replaced "church" with "anime convention" so it was only incidentally religious.

Then I was listening to "Demons" By Imagine Dragons on repeat and some lyrics jumped out at me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWRsgZuwf_8
"When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl"
"Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound"
"This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come"
Gasp This is Christian Music! It isn't the Praise-Jesus version, but there are plenty of sects in the Inherently-Sinful, The-Devil-Made-Me-Do-It, We-Are-Destined-For-Hell-At-Birth belief system. Like the Puritans.

And you know what? I realized I didn't care. Is Christianity not just another mythos?
Cake had the line 'Zeus was a womanizer" in one of their songs, and I didn't mind that.

So, I decided to ask if anyone else has Good Christian Music they like. Here are some of my favorites.
"Angel with a Shotgun" by The Cab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQKMLmXc0xo
"Hellfire" by Disney https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3NoDEu7kpg
And the applicable songs by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

And we may as well double it up! New Christmas/Holiday Music:
"Fa La Freezing" by My First Earthquake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4EJfUtYknU (From the video... she's cold because of that skirt)
"Marry Fricken Christmas (both versions)" by Ficken A' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8p3qR_NcCso (NSFW) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTOHouwsWGs (Red Sox version)
"12 Days of Christmas" by Relient K https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA6QsHdXwdI gets in because it added a chorus
"Santa Claus is Thumbing to Town" by Relient K https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-8jV_CXErA
...You may notice a slight bit of subversion in my favorites... "What is Christmas" is tied for my favorite Trans-Saberian Orchestra song, with "Wish Lizt"

Knights who say NI!

Stavesacre is a really good Christian band (defunct).

Some songs by them:

Gold and Silver... very inspiring song... got me through a lot.

An Eclipsing. Really unique cadence. Probably their most popular song behind Gold and Silver.

Minuteman. Good song.

Minus. Instrumental song. Great cruising song.

Sand Dollar. This is a great one to combine with Minus.

The Trouble With Being Born. Just a good song.

Teeth Like Knives. I just like this song.

Wither-Ascend / Wither-Ascend (reprise). Okay, this song is unique. The Wither part is sung by one of the other band members and then the lead singer sings the Ascend part. Really worth a listen. I've found a video with the reprise attached to the end of the song as well.

Red and Skillet. Some of their stuff is too religious for me now, but they were my favorites when I was christian and I still like them. I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but I can still enjoy them. I gave up pretty much all the other christian bands I listened to before.

I've always been partial to folk inspired music (currently prefer stuff like Mumford and sons or Philip Phillips) So, with that said, I think Caedmon's Call had a cool vibe and still enjoy their songs despite the religious basis... A lot of them have more humanist message than traditional Christian. "Prove Me Wrong", " Bus Driver ", " Not Enough " and many others.
Also, Chris Rice has some cool songs... Some of which were precursors to my departure from Christianity... "Smell the Color 9", " Questions for Heaven ", " Magic Wand ", " Big Enough "

Not really sure if any of those are actually good songs or just sentimental to me, but I still enjoy albums from both of those artists

“The search for truth takes you where the evidence leads you, even if, at first, you don't want to go there.”

Look at this music, especially the Christmas stuff as a myth and you can enjoy it just like any other. I love Trans Siberian Orchestra! I don't know any Christian groups but I do know a very interesting Christmas song by a group called Bobnoxious, lol

If you like Trans-Siberian Orchestra, you should check out their previous incarnation, Savatage. They weren't really a "Christian band" per se, but they had a lot of overtly religious themes in their music.

"Wake of Magellan" and "Streets" are their best albums, IMO.

If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?
