Grand Canyon
Hi Everyone,
When I used to be a believer I had attended an Apologetics course and they had said that "proof exsisted " about how God created the grand canyon and yada yada.

Now I havent been able to find where they actually got that information or which study they were reporting and I was wondering if anyone else here has seen it??

Also,
How did the Grand Canyon according to science actually get created

Thanks
Erik

Google is your friend.

Erosion by the Colorado River.

I suggest starting with Claire:

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

Erosion by the Colorado River.

In a nutshell, yes. Particulate in the waters of the Colorado River slowly cut through the granite of the local terrain, taking several million years to get to the result we see today.

Yes, we are well aware of the YEC position on the creation of the Grand Canyon.

RE: Grand Canyon
Carlo, the grand canyon is not granite. I have scars from granite it is much tougher than the (mostly) sedimentary rock in the grand canyon. Just being a little pissy about words.

RE: Grand Canyon
I've been thinking of heading there for a vacation... Consider hmm, maybe in the fall. I have a friend who hikes to the bottom every once in a while... they say the hike back up is the real test.

I also want to go to the crater near Winslow. Now, that would be easy to hike both ways. Thumbsup

If you can't find the proof from the apologetics, OYK1987, I would suggest considering they pulled it out of their arses. You might want to stay away from google in that instance. Big Grin

Wow - I just learned something from that wiki:

Quote:Between three million and 100,000 years ago, volcanic activity deposited ash and lava over the area which at times completely obstructed the river. These volcanic rocks are the youngest in the canyon.

Damn. That's just cool. Shy
