"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. I work with many brilliant scientists who are religious. They have no problem separating metaphysics from physics. I can't find the quote right now but I recall Feynman advising a student who asked about the metaphysical implications of wave/particle duality and quantum superposition and wave collapse and the Copenhagen interpretation and Feynman said, "Shut up and start calculating."

There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. -Camus

Death not merely ends life, it also bestows upon it a silent completeness, snatched from the hazardous flux to which all things human are subject.

1. Ye have locked yerselves up in cages of fear--and, behold,
do ye now complain that ye lack FREEDOM!

2. Ye have cast out yer brothers for devils and now complain
ye, lamenting that ye've been left to fight alone.

3. All Chaos was once yer kingdom; verily, held ye dominion
over the entire Pentaverse, but today ye was sore afraid in dark
corners, nooks, and sink holes.

4. O how the darknesses do crowd up, one against the other, in
ye hearts! What fear ye more that what ye have wroughten?

Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.

Capt. Nately: How do you know?

Old man in whorehouse: Because I am 107-years-old. How old are you?

Capt. Nately: I'll be 20 in January.

Old man in whorehouse: If you live.
