But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.

George Orwell.

The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Mikhail Bakunin.

No great movement designed to change the world can bear to be laughed at or belittled. Mockery is a rust that corrodes all it touches.

Milan Kundera.

He who would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.

Milan Kundera.

Any movement that can't take a lil' mockery deserves to be fucked over.

I think that he may have poked at communism with that quote, or maybe totalitarian regimes in general. They can't stand laughter.

ETA: Religion too would fit. Except for the "great" part.

RE: Great quotes
“It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream—a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought—a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!”

- Mark Twain, The Mysterious Stranger

When I shake my ignore file, I can hear them buzzing!
