We postponed MIL's internment.

Your MIL died? I'm sorry to hear this.

We got almost an inch of ice rain covering everything out here in Troutdale. I spent 35 minutes helping my daughters chip the ice off her car so she could go to work. We put on chains just in case but I'm sure she took them off once she got out on the main roads.

It might snow a little this Wednesday. Blah!

Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Thanks...it's been a rough few months for us. She passed right before New Year...

We missed the ice, but up at MIL's house, my man couldn't get up the hill and that was with chains. Yeah we're over this crap. The funeral place is actually closed because of weather. They have phones transferred to cell phones. Roads there were so icy they had to cancel all services. Our "service" isn't bad, just an internment (just 5 people total), so we're not fussed or willing to risk our vehicles to get up there.

For other people, I can't imagine the pain this would present. Sad

12 or more inches expected (that's what she said).

Whereabouts do you live?

Cape Cod Smile

We ended up with over a foot, but retained power. We typically lose power in blizzards, and it gets really cold, really fast.

Sorry about the delay for your MIL's burial, moms ((hugs))

My area is unprepared for snow, because it's pretty rare that we get it. Last winter we had a dusting, mostly rain but nothing that kept us in the house.

This year my kid has missed 4 days of school so far because of weather. It's still early winter...

Schools might be closed later this week if this crap continues. I swear these kids will be going to school in july if this shit continues.

That really stinks. Summer is for fun and relaxing, not for school. I hope they get back asap!

RE: Griping about the weather thread
The good news: after a week of single-digit temperatures (both above and below zero degrees F.), it's going to be warmer this week.

The bad news: We will have "unsettled weather" all week with snow changing to sleet/freezing rain changing to rain and then back again as the temperature goes up and down. At best, we'll have a slushy mess. At worst, everything will be covered with ice like last Tuesday morning.

I wish it would have stayed cold. I can dress for that. I have no clothes that will help me walk to work and back (4 miles each way) on ice.

RE: Griping about the weather thread
Snow on Friday with wind chills of 8 degrees. Saturday wasn't a lot better. Yesterday was in the low 40s. Wore a mid-weight sweater with a long sleeved T under it, jeans, and boots to work today...so, of course, the temp went up to 65 today.

I think I just need to keep clothes for all types of weather in my car because there is no way to plan from day to day. Facepalm
