RE: Griping about the weather thread
We're supposed to get into the 50s this coming weekend. On one hand, that will feel pretty good in February. On the other hand, it can really screw up crop cycles.

A few years ago, we had two straight weeks of 70s in March. What happened was that all the plants budded ("Hey, it's summer!"), and then, when the inevitable frosts came during late March and April, they died, and did not bud again that year. It was a terrible year for apples, cranberries, grapes (we have several wineries in Wisconsin), and maple syrup.

I'm as tired of winter as anyone, but fucking spring weather should wait until spring.

I totally agree, Grasshopper! Right before the blizzard and frigid temps, I saw all kind of signs of life - buds and daffodils poking through the soil. The snow is great for the soil - but not so great for plants coming out of dormancy too soon Sad

Yesterday, 46.9ºC at Ivanhoe Airport, in lower western NSW, Australia.

That's 116.5ºF. Could be warming up a bit today? Tongue

It's in the 20's with a howling wind and I have to clear the snow that fell last night.

I hate clearing snow in a howling wind. Censored

It's supposed to start raining later and we are supposed to get a fair amount of rain well into tomorrow, along with temps in the 40s...if Full Circle would overnight me some swim fins and a snorkel, that would be great. Tongue

Oh shit the neighbor's roof collapsed.

Last week we had a little snow storm, then yesterday it got all the way up to 6° (warmest in months) and the winter's accumulated snow started to melt. Then last night while it was freezing again I guess the roof was like Censored this I give up.

Very strong winds here, two fence panels down and the felt ripped off the shed roof (but the roof remains intact, for now. Not going to be easing off for another couple of hours.

Just read on the news that there has been a fatality caused by debris being blown off a roof. Feel bad about griping over some fence panels now.
