Video "Gun Nation" - UK 'Guardian' Report - Sep 2016.
I know that this "gun debate"—pros and cons—has been done to death [sic] on these forums, but I thought that this new video about guns in the US provided an interesting perspective from an outsider's point of view, and also as a timely follow-up to Nelson's earlier visit to the US.

"In the 18 years since Zed Nelson’s seminal photography book Gun Nation was published, 500,000 Americans have been killed by firearms in the US and many more injured. Nelson returns to the people he met, photographs them again, and asks why America is a nation still with an insatiable appetite for firearms.

Nelson’s two-decade-long rapport with his photographic subjects gives unique and intimate access to the minds of gun owners. As they cling to the notion of a centuries-old ‘right to bear arms’, Nelson seeks to understand why – despite the enormous death toll – there is such fierce resistance to gun control laws, particularly the debate about ownership of assault weapons. Gun Nation explores the paradox of why America's most potent symbol of freedom is also one of its greatest killers.

I'd be interested to see what other folks here think about the subjects of this video, plus the subjects' own opinions, and also Nelson's responses and interpretations of the subjects' viewpoints. I guess we've already made our own personal guns stance obvious in numerous past postings(!) which is why I'd like to suggest only commenting specifically about the content of this report.

So..... let the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune fly. Tongue
