Hallo from Greece
Hi everybody .
i am Stavros ,i live in Greece . i am a biologist (studied biology in the UK and finished both my bachelors and masters degrees there)
my love for animals, plants and nature in general is a very important part of my life and since i can remember my self i wanted to learn everything i could about the natural world , as you can realize such a quest tends to lead a person away from fictional ,non provable and static ideas like religion.
even as a kid i loved to argue against religion. coming from an Christian Orthodox family i had a few problems with my parents on this matter. i noticed from an early age the negative effects religion can have even on educated people .
Greece may be a nice country but religion has always had a firm grip on almost everything. i think we must be the only "civilized" country in the world where government and religion are not yet fully divided and a large part of the population have the ideas of religion and national heritage still mixed in their minds.
i am glad that there is a site called the thinking atheist and i am looking forward to exchange my views and ideas with open minded people

RE: Hallo from Greece
Welcome atheoselinas! Glad to have you aboard! Your country is not the only one where religion holds a firm grip. In the US the religious fundamentalists are working hard to incorporate some of their beliefs as laws, and have been for quite a while- they have some very strong lobbies. There is also a general assumption that most people are Christian; and most do self-identify as Christian whether or not they are devout. So it's still a really big deal in the US too.

Hey, Stavros! Pay no attention to the xtian behind the curtain - we don't.

If I didn't know you played RPGs I'd probably be scared too.

RE: Hallo from Greece
Hello Atheoselinas - I think when like minded people exchange ideas with like minded people, anywhere in the world can seem somewhat familiar.
It's interesting to feel that Greece doesn't seem so far away.

This makes me even more vicious. My speed is higher than yours. That means I get a pre-emptive attack. Also since I have Summon God Materia, you're pretty much screwed. Your Mdef is no match for it... even if you cast barrier.

While you're being a nerd I'm gonna drink some beer, watch some football, and then have sex with my wife.

Have fun.

Oh and I forgot hot wings. Gonna eat hot wings too.
