RE: Halloween.
What's with "Christians hate Hallowe'en"? It's a fuckin' Christian (Roman Catholic) idea!

It's All Hallows' Even which precedes All Saints' (Hallows') Day.

Is it because, like Christmas, a lot of pagan stuff (Samhain) got mixed in?

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Watchin' scary movies all day!

Bury me with my guns on, so when I reach the other side - I can show him what it feels like to die.

Catholics have no problem with it. It's the Fundies that see demons behind every bush, and holiday.

RE: Halloween.
I love Halloween. It is my favorite holiday. I love the fall, and the leaves changing, and the crisp feeling you get at night this time of year. I love the spooky stories and the scary movies and carving up pumpkins and getting the house ready. I have a creek that runs next to my house and we always have to do something with it to keep trick-or-treaters from falling into it in the dark. This year we are going to make scarecrow zombies with our neighbor and have them coming out of the creek.

I know this holiday is a boon for the candy companies, but I don't care. For me, it's just great fun and I love the kids walking around and the anticipation. This is just my favorite time of year. I love it right up to Christmas.

As for dressing up, I may not dress up this year. I'm starting a new job the week before and I think it's just too much to add on to it. We're going to a Halloween party the weekend prior to the actual day and I will have to figure out what to do. Last year it was cancelled due to a storm. The year before I bought a fire man costume that was made for a 5 year old and duct-taped it to my shirt and wore the hat. It was pretty funny. The year before my wife and I went as Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma (I was Grandma). If I think of something for this year I'll do it.

RE: Halloween.
Eh. Most of the girls have an excuse to dress like sluts and the guys a chance to act like asses.

From my experience Cow, pretense has flown the fucking coop man. The guys in my town don't wait for an excuse to be assholes. And the girls certainly don't pretend they like clothing any time of the year.

RE: Halloween.
True, we just had Homecoming and the dress up days. It could have qualified as soft porn.
