Happy Oblivion
For some reason, when I bring up the idea that I think I would rather not exist after I die than go to heaven, my mom thinks that I am depressed. What she doesn't quite get is that the idea of non existence makes me happy.

As a person who is sometimes afraid of new things, people, and places that I don't know, I am terrified of the idea of being in eternity with other people. I have no idea what will happen to me. Other people get hope by believing they will see their loved ones again in some eternal paradise. It doesn't work that way with me though.

What is truly amazing is the way that I see the afterlife or lack thereof as being entirely irrelevant to the existence of God. I am curious to know what other people think about the idea of non existence. Does it make you happy or depressed?

RE: Happy Oblivion
I've never been able to cope with my fear of death and the depression that comes along with it.

I'd like to leave it at that because I don't feel comfortable talking about this topic.

I just hope there are no new tech gadgets, game consoles or Bethesda game releases impending while I'm on my death bed.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

RE: Happy Oblivion
My fears revolve more around those I leave behind…..my husband and especially my daughters. They are only 10 & 8. In the past 5 years both of my parents have died and I realize how deep emotionally it really gets to you. It changed me in ways I didn't expect. So I worry, how my death will affect them more than anything else.

As for what happens to me after death- I find comfort in knowing that it just ends. No pain, no nothing. It's simple and pure. I just stop and I won't know I've stopped, just like I don't know where I was 1000 years ago.

RE: Happy Oblivion

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you sad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...

...always look on the bright side
of life...
(Whistle)

Always look on the light side
of life...
(Whistle)

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle
- that's the thing.
And...always look on the bright
side of life...
(Whistle)

Come on.

Always look on the right side
of life...
(Whistle)

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain
with a bow
Forget about your sin - give the
audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance
anyhow.

So always look on the bright side
of death...
(Whistle)

a-Just before you draw your terminal breath...
(Whistle)

Life's a piece of shit, when you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true
You'll see its all a show, keep 'em laughin as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

And...
Always look on the bright side
of life...
(Whistle)

Always look on the right side
of life...

C'mon Brian, cheer up

Always look on the bright side
of life...

Always look on the bright side
of life...

Worse things happen at sea you know.

I mean - what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
- you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing.

Always look on the right side
(I mean) of life...

what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
- you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost?

Always (Nothing.) look on the right side of life...

Nothing will come from nothing ya know what they say?
Cheer up ya old bugga c'mon give us a grin!
There ya go, see!

Always look on the right side of life...
(Cheer up ya old bugga c'mon give us a grin! At same time)

There ya go, see!
