Harry Potter and Jesus freaks
A few years ago my bible thumping mother in law visited and gave me this glossy mini mag about the evil of the Harry Potter series on Christians. (I am so happy I only have to deal with her 1-2 times a year).

But it was so crazy that I immediately pitched it in the trash. I didn't want my (then) 8 year old daughter who was in the middle of reading the series to come across it.

I was hoping someone here could remind me what the theist problems are with HP. Since then I have also spotted books with the opposite slant.

I think it's the magic and therefore a link to the devil.

The only supernatural beliefs that are 'allowed' are in the Christian god.

I'm not anti-social. I'm pro-solitude. Sleepy

Screw Christianity's problem with it; I have a problem with it because I'm a LOTR fan, and the series is a blatant ripoff.

Yeah. I remember my very short stint in a baptist church, they had problems with my Tolkien stuff.

Absolutely ridiculous. My addiction is totally understandable and normal.

I always found that funny as Tolkien was a devout Catholic.

Onward, my faithful steed!

Yep.

He obviously wasn't a true Scotsman...I mean catholic.

What the fuck are you smoking, dude? That is a silly statement.

Chas, really? Harry Potter ripped off LOTR with so many themes and characters it's laughable.

Just to name a few, and this isn't a comprehensive list. It's like comparing Jesus to Krishna.
