Has anyone here volunteered for Meals on Wheels?
Can you tell me what was involved? Thanks!

Not sure if you mean volunteering to deliver or receive. My wife received Meals on Wheels for a time but that was taken care of by her Medical Case Manager. As for working for them I've not the foggiest notion. If it is the latter give them a call. Not sure if they are paid but I think so.

Today is the best day of my life and tomorrow will be even better.

It's a volunteer thing. I did it for a while.

It was nice at times and difficult at others.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I am concerned about the emotional aspect. Is that what you mean by difficult?

Not Meals on Wheels, but I've done considerable volunteer work. I've driven visually impaired people to appointments and counsellor sessions, I work with homeless and ill people on the streets (including transgender, addicts, prostitutes, etc) seeing that they get medical care, clothing and food, and for a time I volunteered at a hospice for cancer patients.

If you're concerned about the emotional aspect of working with at-risk or poverty-stricken populations, the organization likely has training programs you can take that might help.

If it's still a concern, perhaps try volunteering with something else. My local community has a horticultural society that maintains the flowers and plants in some of the local parks (I'm not being facetious here, it's a real thing and the people that do it really enjoy it).

Thanks for the ideas! I volunteer for animal organizations, my school PTA and I lead a Girl Scout troop. And I did just offer to tend a small garden area in town. lol

I feel like I can do more though...but man, I am very emotional so I do wonder if it's not the right thing for me.
