Headscratching moment
Recently, a friend of mine was talking about how a pastor was able to revive someone who died in Jesus' name!

He was like: "If that's not proof for God, then I don't know!"

Then I asked him: "So you are certain it was God who revived him?"

Him: "Yes"

Me: "Then you don't believe that God exists anymore, you KNOW he exists. That's impressive! You actually know, that is groundbreaking that you are the only one who truly knows!"

Him: "Well, I do not know, I believe"

Me: "Oh, so that means you're not certain it was God who revived the dead person...
Guess you're just as much as a doubter as me."

Me: "How can you doubt such proof you just presented?"

Then he said he wasn't in doubt, and I asked him how he can not have any shadow of doubt if he do not know a 100%.

RE: Headscratching moment
What I wanna know is how'd the person die and what were the circumstances surrounding the resuscitation.

I love it when preachers take credit for work performed by medical personnel. Rolleyes A successful post arrest requires HUNDREDS of professionals working together from the initial 911 call to rehab.

So let's see, and I'm undoubtedly gonna leave people out:
- bystander to call 911 and hopefully initiate high quality CPR
- 911 dispatchers
- paramedics and EMTs, sometimes firefighters, if air evac add in the pilot and flight nurse
- ER: triage coordinator, ED doc, bare minimum 2 nurses (usually 4-5 initially), techs, respiratory therapists (and housekeeping that cleaned the room - infection control!), stat lab, X-ray techs maybe ct techs
- pharmacist and pharmacy techs
- Admitting physician and all consulting physicians, if it's a teaching hospital throw in some residents and fellows
- probably going to the cath lab, so interventional cardiologist, scrub nurse, circulating nurse, about 4 other staff members too
- bed boards to coordinate room assignment
- ICU nurses for weeks or months, unit nurse specialist, ICU respiratory therapist, unit secretary, housekeeping, dietician, lab techs, intensivist, more X-ray techs and radiologist, physical therapists, EEG tech, EKG tech
- step down nurses, patient care aides, secretary, dietary staff, more physical therapists, occupational therapists
- case manager
- I haven't even touched on the support staff to keep the computers up and running, operators, plant ops, etc

Kinda shitty for one person to take all the credit. Maybe the bystander's name was Jesus?

Indeed. If you include 'at times' to mean 'all of the times'.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

If they had died in Jesus' name it seems a bit naughty to revive them against Jesus' wishes.

Surely going to hell for that!

Let's be clear about something....

You're not reallly DEAD until you start decomposing.

Find a preacher who revives a floater who's been face down in a river for two weeks and THEN we'll talk about "miracles".

Yeah, an army of trained personnel working feverishly to resuscitate a person and they come back- it's Jeebus!! Facepalm

After reading James Randi's book The Faith Healers he makes it quite clear that you have to have a medical diagnosis before an alleged medical event and after an alleged medical event, then you need to provide access to every doctor, patient, claimant to provide information to clarify any claims, until you have all of that, you've got nothing.

He's been subject to one religious nutjob after another making claims, but when he interviews the doctor it usually is revealed that the doctor had them on some sort of medication before and after a healing event and there was no change to the patient's condition after these alleged miracles.

It's kind of sad how many people make these miracle claims without any supporting evidence and get other people to believe, sometimes putting people's lives in danger because they want to believe in miracles instead of medical science.

Yeah the natural reason is never an option.

Its not a dream.. its a vision!
Its not a doctor.. Its a miracle!
Its not coincidence.. It was god's plan!

I seen a few discovery channel shows about this and none of them claimed "jebus did it"

a guy fell into a ice cold lake, the cold and lack of oxygen prevent the body from decaying, he was in a coma like state, they revived him by slowly warming up his now super cold blood and after more than a day his heart started to beat and his body started functioning again

in this case he could easily be called dead "medically" but if he was truly dead then his body should've started decomposing immediately

heck why is it that we never see a rotten corpse come back to life ?......................... because no one wants to beliving in the universe of The Walking Dead franchise

While stationed in Kodiak Alaska, I attended a mandatory course in hypothermia - taught by Dr. Martin Nemiroff - a leader in hypothermia recovery.

Shortly after I left - he did a rescue on a girl who had been in a boating accident, and had been face down in the water for an hour - this was wintertime. I was pretty shocked when I heard about this - because the girl - named Misty - was the daughter of a friend of mine from Kodiak.

Misty made a full recovery - with no impairments of any kind.

Miracle??

Nope. Just a very talented doctor - doing what he does very well.

RE: Headscratching moment
This was posted on FB by someone I have known since grade school. Keep in mind that she has serious health problems and always has. The ONLY reason she is still alive today is because of the legions of medical personnel and drugs developed by humans.

Quote:First, thank you for all the prayers! Surgery went well; it was as worse then they anticipated as there was Tons of infection and 4 blockages. This was my 2nd time having this, but this was much more invasive and challenging than anyone anticipated. Instead of an hour, it took 2 1/2! I am home, on different antibiotics and good pain meds. Super tired and thankful to be in my bed!!! My head doesn't ache, Praise God!!!!! Nose and other pain will go away as I heal! (They had to break some additional bone on right side). Overall, doing well! Back to clinic Monday!

And, thank you Kim and Karen for everything!! Your friendships mean so much to me! I don't know what I'd do without you!! I heart emoticon you both dearly!!!

Note, not a SINGLE shoutout to the doctors and nurses who spent years honing their craft, learning about the body what we have discovered, or their efforts to repair her broken body. This kind of stuff has to drive Nurse nuts. It drives me nuts. She thanks her friends but not one bit of thanks to the people who actually saved her life. And to think that believers think that all of this began because a woman ate a magical apple after being told to by a talking snake. I just don't get it. Can someone please explain this to me?
