Hello Everyone
I'm a college student. I've been an atheist for awhile but I've never really been active about it until I started college.
I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio my first year, which was last year, and joined the Atheist Agenda club there. I'm not sure if anyone here saw the news clips, cause apparently we went national, but we hosted an event called Smut for Smut where students could trade in their bibles for porn. It always gets a lot of coverage and misrepresentation every year, but it's basically meant to show what is in the bible and try to encourage discussion about it. I thought it was great and had a fun time and even had some good discussions, but as always you encounter the crazies.
Besides that, I've never really met anyone who had a serious issue with me being atheist, besides my mom, whose Catholic. But we never talk about religion so it's not really that big of a deal. So I guess I've gotten lucky as an atheist, really, cause I've heard some real horror stories.

Anyway, I got directed to this forum cause The Thinking Atheist podcast for this weekend, on face palm moments, was posted on facebook and after listening to it I just knew I had to join. So here I am.
I'll stop typing now and go wonder around the forums : )

RE: Hello Everyone
Welcome! Big Grin I also joined because of one of the podcasts (I think it was the "Mad as Hell" one way back). I hope you enjoy the discussions here! Big Grin

I am 100% certain that I am wrong about something I am certain about right now. Because even if everything I stand for turns out to be completely true, I was still wrong about being wrong.

Free thinkers did that in Finland a few months ago! After that, a christian book shop organized an event where you could chance your porn back to bibles. Big Grin That means: free porn + a new bible. Tongue Most people sticked with their porn though.

Welcomes!

Correct me when I'm wrong.
Accept me or go to hell.

RE: Hello Everyone
Hey Zenith, and welcome to the forums.

There are actually quite a few college students here. I'm a college student myself, actually, but I'm in Kentucky, not Texas. What's your major, if you don't mind me asking? I'm in computer science.

@Kikko: I'd stick with the porn too lol

@Unbeliever: I'm a double major. Psychology and sociology. Btw, I love your Fallout avatar. I hope to write plots for video games when I get out of college : )

Cool.

It's not Fallout. It used to be - for a long time after I joined the site, my title was "Vault-Tec C.E.O." and my avatar was one of the Vault Boy bobbleheads - but this one is the Schocktruppen from Take On You Games' board game Operation: Tannhäuser.

Same, except that I don't care if it's video games or tabletop games. I probably play more tabletop RPGs than I do video games. Currently, Deadlands: Reloaded and Mutants and Masterminds are taking up most of my time.

RE: Hello Everyone
aw it looked like it D= I was so sure. Then again, it's been awhile since I played.

The only tabletop game I played was DnD. Those were some good times lol Always good to have crazy friends when playing that game. And put the craziest one as the DM

We learned not to let Dan DM for us. My character is the only one to have survived one of his campaigns without needing true resurrection at least once. I'm the group's designated DM.
