Hello from the Great White North!
Hi All - Well I am one fresh atheist - the paint isn't even dry yet! 2014 will go down in my books as the tipping point year. Didn't plan on it; didn't see it coming. Just kept discovering one thing after another that made a hellova lot more sense than the fundamental BS I grew up shovelling. I am a Bible College grad & my circles of friends & family are very traditional bible thumpity thump thump thumpers. It's that book of ridiculous stories that has nagged at me all these decades. It truly is 50 shades of nonsense! I mean, come on . . . I live next to an old lady, but I doubt she is anywhere near 900 years old (yet). Looking forward to chatting with other thinkers. CG

Welcome!!!

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Atheism is NOT a Religion. It's A Personal Relationship With Reality!

Welcome to reality, CanadaGoose.

It's not too pretty, but it's the best we've got.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

Welcome.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

And welcome from the Great White North. Red Deer, Alberta here.

How can anyone become an atheist when we are all born with no beliefs in the first place? We are atheists because we were born this way.

Be sure to barbecue kittens, record the NFL without their permission and rip the tags off of your mattress.

Oh and a reading list if you have not read them yet.

"The God Delusion" Richard Dawkins
"God The Failed Hypothesis" Victor Stenger
"The New Atheism" Victor Stenger
"God Is Not Great" Christopher Hitchens
"The End Of Faith" Sam Harris
"Letter To a Christian Nation" Sam Harris
"Infidel" Ayaan Hirsi Ali
"2000 Years of Disbelief" James Haught

And never stop reading the arguments of both sides, not just in books, but online too. You will be amazed at how theists of all religions try to redress what amounts to the same arguments.
