Here's to the state of Mississippi ...
Well, they're at it again (or still).

The text of a proposed state constitution amendment:
"The State of Mississippi hereby acknowledges the fact of her identity as a principally Christian and quintessentially Southern state, in terms of the majority of her population, character, culture, history, and heritage, from 1817 to the present; accordingly, the Holy Bible is acknowledged as a foremost source of her founding principles, inspiration, and virtues; and, accordingly, prayer is acknowledged as a respected, meaningful, and valuable custom of her citizens. The acknowledgments hereby secured shall not be construed to transgress either the national or the state Constitution’s Bill of Rights."

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

^But they said they weren't breaking any of the laws, as described in either of the Bills of Rights: That makes it OK. Duh.

Soulless mutants of muscle and intent. There are billions of us; hardy, smart and dangerous. Shaped by millions of years of death. We are the definitive alpha predator. We build monsters of fire and stone. We bottled the sun. We nailed our god to a stick.

In man's struggle against the world, bet on the man.

Facepalm great, you know which state is going to follow up with their own version....

If it weren't for the cold, I would look into moving to Canada. Life sounds much more pleasant there.

Mississippi seems to be by nature a treasonous state, and openly displays anti-American and anti-patriotic symbols, such as the confederate Saltire of Treason in their flag. I'm not surprised they would try something like this.

What do you expect of the ultra conservative.

You have to use the doublethink. Hold in your mind both these concepts and to not compare or question them; "The State of Mississippi hereby acknowledges the fact of her identity as a principally Christian and quintessentially Southern state, in terms of the majority of her population, character, culture, history, and heritage, from 1817 to the present; accordingly, the Holy Bible is acknowledged as a foremost source of her founding principles, inspiration, and virtues; and, accordingly, prayer is acknowledged as a respected, meaningful, and valuable custom of her citizens." and "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion".

And if the doublethink is too much for your tiny atheist brain then simply repeat "states' rights" over and over again until it all makes sense.

You could head North, like around Boston.
