The choice of the Indo-Aryan swastika as a symbol reinforces my belief that he was at least a little bit of a mystic. As you said, it doesn't matter because he was an asshole no matter what.

Mysticism is not required. Hitler was an artist (or wanna-be artist if you like), and there are documents which chronicle his designs of various Nazi symbols and symbolism. In much the same way any artist or graphic designer studies the best way to create a symbol, image, icon, or logo--so too did Hitler. He picked the swastika because of the power and meaning of the symbol itself, as well as it's easily recognizable and striking visual design--and he was very clever in this regard.

And what gave it power? Its ancient roots. The swirl of the cosmos is expressed in the swastika motif all across the globe. Hitler and Himmler knew and respected that. Ergo, many Nazis including Hitler where mystics.

RE: Hijacked by Religion. (quotes)
Thinking Theist does have a point though. Hitler was fascinated with germanic myth and used it to promote as the ideology of the "master race" to unite the german people. He was quoted, "Whoever wants to understand National Socialist Germany must know Wagner" Wagner's operas drew heavily on germanic myth, heroes and demons and there is no arguing he knew how to use propaganda. He erected massive germanic god statues as rally points. The aryans is also where hitler got his "master race" ideology from which he considered them a pure race and they traveled many places including India where the swastika is a prominent symbol meaning "it is good". It is very possible that he knew of this symbol.

The Nazi flag featured the black swastika, on a white circle, on a red background... Red to represent Socialism, white for Nationalism and the swastika added by Hitler as a representation of the supposed "Aryan" race...

Apparently the use of a swastika was inspired by a carving above the door of the school Hitler attended as a child...

Oh I found a good oneSmile I been hearing this one all over the place, I bet it's in a theists playbook.

"The greatest trick Satan ever pulled was making the world believe he didn't exist"

The quote is actually much earlier than the movie, its is

"My dear brothers, n 'Never forget, when you hear praise the progress of enlightenment, the greatest trick the Devil is to persuade you that he does not exist! "

Which is from Generous Player by Charles Baudelaire

That is a truly dreadful translation. Dodgy

Churchill quotes are awesome: my favorite was as a comeback to a dinner guest.
Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”

My favorite:

"I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals."

Captain at a news conference say...

"Im reminded of an old biblical story"
"The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing"
While that classic quote is a little fuzzy to trace. Its believed to be from the 1920s and there's no evidence its from the bible or even biblical times.

Damn annoying theist keep taking the good and ignoring their evil.

The quote is from Edmond Burke, an 18th century Irish politician in the British parliament.

Shackle their minds when they're bent on the cross
When ignorance reigns, life is lost
