If you don't know guns - it wouldn't make much sense.

But - to a person who DOES know guns (I do) -- collecting guns makes financial sense.

I once told my SO (who also has a "Emelia Marcos" shoe collection) "Sure - I spend more money on guns than you do on shoes. Let's go sell our collections and see who makes a profit".......

Hint -- Used footwear doesn't bring top dollar - except for ruby slippers... (knowing somebody will go there..)

One of my friend's collected antique guns. He had quite the collection -- including a revolutionary war musket. He was fascinated with civil war (and is a civil war historian) pieces, even had a uniform or two, sabres...and a flag. Many of his pieces when they came up at auction were purchased by a museum. He chuckled at that because he'd contacted them more than once expressing interest in donating some items and was rejected.

He also had an extensive collection of nude women pictures from the civil war era and after until the 1920s. Many involved spanking. Ohmy

I know he sold much of the "porn" at auction and I was a bit shocked at how much he got for some of them.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I have about 30 pairs of shoes. It's not a hobby though. It's a necessity. I have a lot of high heeled boots. I necessarily need to be tall.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

I think I have near the same. I like changing shoes around based on my outfits. I also think a pair of heels can be extremely sexy. I know my bf likes seeing me in them Wink

I tried talking one of my ex's into buying some vintage porn we saw at an estate sale..... She wouldn't go for it - and thought I was blowing smoke up her ass, when I told her some of it was probably quite valuable.....

Shoulda dumped her, and got the porn....

I prowl the night collecting children's teeth.

Mark Hamill has a new show coming out about peoplesome collections.

Sometimes I don't understand 'art.' I mean, how is a giant blank white canvas or an old bike nailed to a chair art? Then again, I suppose the definition of art changes from person to person Tongue

Ignorance is not to be ignored.

RE: Hobbies I Just Don't Get
I used the samurai sword that lives in a trash barrel in our garage to get into the house the last time I was locked out. Ladder to my study window, sword to lever open the closed, but not locked, window, face plant into the big comfy parent chair that lives by said window, problem solved!

My husband used to collect baseball cards; that's a hobby I don't get.

I had a bunch of unicorns for a while because I said once at around age 13 that I liked unicorns, so everybody decided to give me unicorns for birthdays and Christmas, etc., for about the next six years. I have no idea where all those unicorns ended up...probably rotting in an attic somewhere.

I love other people's hobbies and weird collections, though.
