Homo Erectus, fire, and cooking
Interesting article today in the Harvard Gazette about the possibility that the controlled use of fire, and cooking arose eariler than they thought.

RE: Homo Erectus, fire, and cooking
hehe...you said homo...and erect...hehe

I've watched that Nova episode a couple of times. It's quite well done.
It's amazing to think of the process that went through the minds of those first beings as they figured out what fire was and how to use it. That fills me with so much more awe at the world we live in than trying to imagine a pile of dust turning into a man and a rib turning into a woman. What an amazing place this is that we can learn about what our ancestors were doing, not 6,000 years ago, but millions of years. Wow!

It was just a fucking apple man, we're sorry okay? Please stop the madness Laugh out load

I had heard lots of 'human' behaviors were starting to be attributed to earlier and earlier hominids. These articles really make me smile and giggle with glee.
