You basically just get people to like you and what you say. The more they like you, the more likely they are to rep you.

Having said that, it's not a popularity contest. It's just a forum where people of (mostly) similar minds can gather and discuss various things. Just look at my reps; I don't have 50+, but I don't have any negs (negatives) either. Some people seem to think I'm ok; others think I'm a complete twat. It's a fair, decent balance to have. Ultimately, the reps let you know who thinks you're pretty cool and why, but it doesn't really matter.

Especially when you consider the fact that others can like you and what you say without repping you accordingly. Case in point: I've enjoyed your posts thus far, but I've never felt the need to rep you. It just doesn't matter all that much.
