I completely agree with you.

Like the other day, this woman was trying to make me feel bad by calling me "gay". But why exactly is that an insult?
I personally don't have anything against gay people, and I couldn't really care less, if people actually think that I am gay.

The same thing, when people call me "fat" as an insult. Why am I supposed to feel offended?

Words are pretty neutral. It's up to us to decide whatever or not, we feel offended by them. It's too bad that people can't be civilised, and do without name-calling.
