Y'know, I missed this in my first reply, but to the OP -- if there are any Universalist Unitarian churches in your area, check one out. They are nondenominational and welcome atheists as well.

As for Bible reading, I recommend reading other religious texts. When you can compare the Bible, Tanakh, Zohar, Bhagavad Gita, Eddas, vodoun texts, Book of Mormon, and so on, you'll learn more than you thought and they're all literature. You will either get bored or read other things.
