RE: castration
I was married for 18 years to a nymphomaniac. No, not the general usage "dude, my chick's a nympho!" but the clinical one. Her mood swings were directly related to the frequency and satisfaction level of her sexual gratification. Good news: sex all the time; no "head aches" for her. Bad news: sex all the time, and if not, it only took a day or two for her to turn into Mr. Hyde.

Then I was divorced. No sex for 3 years now. I'm awful at dating or even meeting new people and I won't pay for it. It's worse than castration because I have the drive but not the outlet. Internet porn is a poor substitution. I hold out the hope that my luck will change.

But other than that hope, I think I would prefer castration right now - at least then my sex drive would match my available outlets - none. Of course, if the right woman finally does come along, I would regret the castration then.

On a side note - how is it possible to create a post with a subject so long that people can't reply to it without changing the subject? WTF???

title is still too long
OK, not related, but I gotta know:

I used the "Quick reply" at the bottom of the page. When I clicked "Post Reply" to submit my reply, the forum told me the subject was too long. But I can't even edit the subject because it's nowhere on the "Quick Reply" section of the screen. So I clicked "Preview Post" which showed me my post and kindly displayed an editable subject line so I could edit it to a shorter subject then post it.

Then I checked the other replies on this thread, and some of them changed the subject, FreeThought even changed it to "Title's too damn long!" so I am sure that I'm not the only one getting that message. However, I see that several replies left the subject unchanged so apparently some people (Dom and Bemore) were able to post their replies without editing the title.

Why does it work for some but not for others? My guess it that it has something to do with which browser is used, but that's a silly guess - why should that matter?

More importantly, why does this forum allow a person to create a title of X characters and then not allow replies with a title of X characters? If it has limits to the length of the title, shouldn't that be the same limit for posts AND replies?

(ok the reply is X+4 characters since it prepends "Re: ")

It's a Stalinist plot.
If you can't reply to the full subject line, you must be sent to a re-education camp.

respond to the news that you will never have sex again?
If it was just not having sex anymore I'd be personally ok with it. I'm not really that sexually driven anyways, but if it meant massive corrective surgery I'd be seriously pondering suicide. I honestly don't think I could do it. As some may know I have an immense fear of surgeries.

I have to go in for a root canal on wednesday and I'm fucking tripping balls. Such a minor thing and I'm totally freaking out about it. Anything more serious and I might have a literal heart attack.

And then likely have surgery to fix your weak little heart.

A single action is worth more than the words it takes to describe it.

I did have to edit it. It said : Re: in front of the title and I removed that to publish.

RE: How do you think you would respond to
I think I'd be devastated. I'm not very good at expressing myself verbally (unless I'm writing it down), and sex really helps me form a connection with people. Also, it's pretty fucking awesome.

So, not quite suicidal, but it would really diminish my life experience. I suppose I'd get used to it after a while... like giving up cheese. Except it's so much more awesome than cheese.

Being told I couldn't have sex again wouldn't bother me too much. It would bother me if I were told I would not be allowed human contact ever again. However, that wouldn't have anything to do with a physical loss. Sex is about 80% in the brain - the body parts are details and there are work arounds for sexual satisfaction.

For me, it's about closeness... I wouldn't want to lose at least the possibility of being close with another human being. I'm pretty sure I don't need a man to have a nut sack before I can be close with him. As well, I doubt a man would shy away from me just because he didn't have a pair -or a single.

Chemicals and hormones stimulate pleasure centers in the brain but... satisfaction is up to a combination of that stimulation and emotion. I could lose the physical stuff, it's the loss of emotional closeness that would hurt me. Emotional closeness has nothing to do with gonads.
***

I can't wait for that post-menopausal stability to kick in. Right now, I'm riding a bit of a hormone roller coaster. I think this may be my last chance to throw my arms up in the air and scream with excitement. Luckily, I kind of like roller coasters. Wink

I think in the end, I just feel like I'm a secular person who has a skeptical eye toward any extraordinary claim, carefully examining any extraordinary evidence before jumping to conclusions. ~ Eric ~ My friend ... who figured it out.

Dude, I can relate.

I know there is not much point offering platitudes for keeping a stiff upper lip, but you have my sympathy.

What time is the appointment? I'll pray for you.

I had a root canal once. Everyone says the term root canal like it's the end of the world. Mine was no big deal. In fact, I remember kinda liking the experience.
