How is this possible? Mars rover selfie
I'm not normally a conspiracy theory person, but I don't understand how this works. How does it take a selfie without its mast arm showing?

It says the photo's were stacked to create one image, but doesn't that mean each one should have the mast arm in it somewhere?

I know someone here can explain this, help me out.

The rover could have taken several photos and stitched them together, as you can do with panoramic photography software for your PC. The mast arm would have been coming in from one side for each time, so if you crop that out of each image and take the next image overlapping your previous one and then stitch them all together you can make it look like a single shot.

The rover has tiny mirrors on it that it can place down. It's just like the moon landing.
Also it has two cameras. And it's a panoramas because you can see the extreme curvature of mars in the picture.

Huh

Are you saying it puts the mirror down, moves away from it and snaps the photo? Consider

Like the moon landing how?

So it's just editing using multiple photos?

I assume that means the mast arm was moving to different positions?

Here's a video:

Short answer: Parts of the camera arm are photo-shopped out of the finished picture as part of the compositing of the multiple photographs. See also:

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

OMG. Does this mean Mars isn't flat like the earth?
