It's the third option from the top Thumbsup

I prefer fantasy, but I have to live in reality.

Another reason I did the 10 yr old thing (in retrospect) was to avoid people bragging over how smart they were as a kid Tongue haha. (not saying you were doing that)

I am a theist.

But none of my deities is a Creator.

Only until middle school. No religion forced on me either.

RE: How many years of theism did you endure.
6. I was a few months away from turning 17 when I stopped believing in a higher power altogether.

I didn't have a religious upbringing at all (so thankful for that). My dad believed in a god. My mom believes in a god. I really just believed, mostly, because that's what had been ingrained in my mind. Never went to church a single day of my life. Flipped through the bible a few times. I never really thought to question it for a while. I had to grow up early in life. When I was 11, an uncle who was like a second dad to me died (May 2002), and then, a bit over a year later, my paternal grandmother died, and then four months after that my dad died a week before Christmas.

All of those deaths happened and I kinda just went with the flow of 'believing'.

It all turned around when I watched that George Carlin bit about god on YouTube. Dead serious. Out of all the things that would've made me question my belief, that was it. I watched that bit on YouTube literally three days before he died.

I was in my early 20's. I really wanted to believe, but I had to be honest with myself.

RE: How many years of theism did you endure.
Up until around age 18-19, I had always just believed other people when they told me that I was a typical struggling theist. Living with a bunch of science and history majors in a college dorm away from my parents gave me the tools and freedom to actually think about the true nature of belief, and to realize that I was, in fact, an atheist. In fact, I've probably always been an atheist. I never got baptized, because I had never had one of those transcendental experiences of "receiving the spirit" or whatever the fuck they call it, and I certainly had never prayed to any gods, unless someone else was watching me do it.

If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?

There is nothing wrong with polytheism.

The problems come with having a Creator.
