We don't have to fight cancer but we want too. We don't have to care for cancer patients but we want too. Because we want to do those things, we do them. In doing so we demonstrate a lot of good things about humanity....and we grow both in knowledge and wisdom.

So god designed cancer to kill us and made it painful so we should fight it? Why would god want us to fight something he designed to kill us?

You haven't established that God designed cancer or pain. Cancer and pain may merely be artifacts of an evolutionary system designed by God to produce intelligent/free willed beings capable of loving and serving Him of their own free will.

I asked you if god created cancer and you said yes.

Designing is not the same thing as creating. You cannot use the terms interchangeably.

You haven't established a god at all, nor even bothered to define the characteristics of your speculated god thingy. Don't expect others to read your mind on the matter. Since the idea of god thingies is not new, it's reasonable to presume you are talking about the predominant version of the myth, unless you specify otherwise.

Softly, softly, catchee monkey.

We are discussing the problem of evil not the existence of God. Some atheists claim a good God can't exist because evil exists. An implied premise in that atheistic argument is that it is logically possible for a good God to exist(the opposite is also an implied premise). Now you're shifting the goal post to argue against that particular premise. Stick to the topic at hand. Can a good God exist when "evil" exists in the world.

I don't know. I doubt it. But lets say He did.

What is evil about death and pain? Both have purposes which are not intrinsically evil.

Do you agree that pain communicates to the consciousness that there is something amiss with the body?

Do you agree that on earth people need to die so that others can continue to be born?
