here we go again: televangelist says huricane is god's wrath

The more one asserts their own unquestioned preconceived beliefs, the more demanding I will be for empirical evidence for I will accept nothing else in place of it

To fathom: To measure the depths of something, especially a body of water.

It's quite easy to fathom their thought process because it's very, very shallow. It goes like this:

1) X has happened, where X is undesirable and widely-noticed.

2) I do not like people doing/being Y.

3) If I say that X is God's judgement for Y, I will manage to denounce Y, whip up irrational opposition to Y, change some of the conversation back to my hatred of Y, and leech off of some of X's publicity all for the price of some empty words.

3) God hates everything I hate and every significant phenomenon is actually God endorsing my views in some way.

4) Therefore, X is God's judgement for Y.

It's like playing Mad Libs, only they ever use the one Mad Lib over and over and over again and it's not remotely funny.

God must really be pissed at the planet Jupiter because its swirling mega-storm has been going since 1665!

Here is the thing about potential...You either use your gift or your gift uses you. You are either a rocket or a bomb.

God: "Jupiter...what the fuck guys? you know what...you're getting it now buddy...."

Yeah, I get that their thought's involve "god does everything...so he MUST be doing this" but REALLY? like REALLY REALLY? Not just a hurricane, which despite being very bad this time around compared to others over the last few years, is something that happens on a YEARLY basis? Facepalm

I suppose god is angry at us every 12-ish months for no apparent reason? Maybe it's his birthday and we just keep forgetting? Fuck know what Jupiter did then. Maybe they remembered and re-gifted him something from the previous year.

What else but idiocy one can expect from teleevangelist?

The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Welcome to 700 BC, this is the way they thought back then and they haven't moved past that.

They don't even think far enough through such an assertion to realize that they have just made their god into an imbecile. It's worse than using a shotgun to kill a gnat, apparently their god is too weak or stupid to be discriminating in his targets.

Worse aim than a drunk hillbilly with a shotgun and a million times more dangerous.

Maybe God is angry at Texas and Florida because we have so many racists and crooked politicians.
