here we go again: televangelist says huricane is god's wrath
I shut it down when Jim Bakker asked, “Am I off?” Of COURSE you’re off, Jimbo. You’re a raving lunatic.

But ..... the Jebus god *really* loves people in Minnesota and San Diego. Yes

But, he's a fickle god ... it could all change on a dime.

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.

If these self-righteous shitheads are so convinced that sin is the root cause of hurricanes, then why don’t they STOP ACTING LIKE SUCH FUCKING ASSHOLES?!

To answer this: See the earlier part of your sentence. The part about "self-righteous shitheads".

They were last seen screwing up a storm.

Non-theists: "Man this sucks. Let's get busy fixing things so it sucks less next time."

You left off the closing sentences of those paragraphs.

To fathom: To measure the depths of something, especially a body of water.

It's quite easy to fathom their thought process because it's very, very shallow. It goes like this:

1) X has happened, where X is undesirable and widely-noticed.

2) I do not like people doing/being Y.

3) If I say that X is God's judgement for Y, I will manage to denounce Y, whip up irrational opposition to Y, change some of the conversation back to my hatred of Y, and leech off of some of X's publicity all for the price of some empty words.

3) God hates everything I hate and every significant phenomenon is actually God endorsing my views in some way.

4) Therefore, X is God's judgement for Y.

It's like playing Mad Libs, only they ever use the one Mad Lib over and over and over again and it's not remotely funny.
Pretty insightful and accurate.

Another progression of "thought" on this, I suspect, is:

1) My ministry runs on guilt and shame heaped on the weak and fearful.

2) Natural disasters like this are awe-inspiring, therefore god.

3) Since it's destructive, it is god's wrath.

4) Frightened, guilty people send me money in exchange for empty promises of protection and intercession.

Also, you think that people who believe this sort of thing would be terrified of God. Just like in the Bible, he throws around massive, poorly targeted punishments. He gets angry at group X, then sends a calamity that affects some of group X (but not all of it!), and also some of group Y. Under this system, you could be living in close proximity to a bunch of heathens, get killed by God for their sins, all while a good chunk of them survive!

But God loves you... Hobo Talk about a split personality.

As is amusingly illustrated in the Preacher comics.

During a stable moment of the day:

A few seconds later.

It's almost as if being alone in an empty void for several eternities causes mental problems of biblical proportions in sentient beings.
Who could have guessed?

"Throughout history, every mystery, ever solved, has turned out to be; Not magic."

Oh my God (no pun intended)!
I just actually watched the video.
It's Jim Baker.
Clear evidence that you just can't fix stupid.
These guy are rubber ducks.
You can't sink them even if you try.

It's the wrath of Tammy Faye Baker.
From the grave.
Religion is stupid everywhere.
But there is a particular type of stupidity in the religion of the bible belt in the US that exceeds all other brands.

You're kinda new here but one of my favorite Bloom County cartoons involved Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker which I've posted a few times but I'll do it again cause I like it so much. You may need to enlarge it just a bit so you can read it.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
