Because 5 people have 5 different opinions as opposed to 2 different opinions or just one opinion.

If the rules are explicit and the ethos is clearly defined then it's actually quite easy to form a consensus on a regular basis if they properly discuss things. I've seen other forums work this way. Even easier if some admins are often absent.

5-10 different opinions but each one fully empowered to wield the banhammer without requiring a consensus could work. If they fuck up, they drop the banhammer and the decision is reversed by consensus.

I'd be happy if both sm's and admins could wield the hammer but that doesn't address the issue of two completely inactive admins that need to resign.

They don't need to resign.

The rules are clearly outlined but even so there are different opinions among the FT (and forum as a whole) whether or not someone is breaking them.
"what is classified as spam?" for example.

What you need is loose rules and 1 or 2 admins with the ability to interrupt those rules and use common sense.

They don't need to resign.

Yes they do. They're inactive in a position that requires activity.

They don't need to resign.

Under the current set up and the way Moderating works on this forum they do need to step aside.

If those two for admin is so bad.....
Somebody anybody... Tell me why?????

DLJ ain't fool enough. Chas wielded the banhammer for a bit but I think voluntarily relinquished it when he felt it was cramping his style (he could easily rewield it 'cause it actually accentuates instead of cramping his style). And I'd miss the pretty boy as she gradually disappears into the void that comes with the banhammer.

I once suggested that the banhammerers remain anonymous so they could maintain their forum persona but DeepThought pointed out that all that would accomplish is that forum complaints end up with him or Seth. Bad idea.

I think sharing the banhammer amongst all of the mods, supermods, and admins along with reverting to Stark's original 3 rules ("No porn/nudity, no spam, no sockpuppets") and adding "no douchebags" would go a long way to addressing this recurring issue.

That is the reason why you start a thread in the mod section and discuss it until a consensus is formed.

You seem to be under the impression that the mods, supermods and admins can't discuss things amongst themselves and form a consensus.

I can attest that it works in practice.

Then add more admins rather than demand that the existing ones resign otherwise you are just perpetuating the problem.
