Question "I don't believe in God(s)" - "I believe there is no God(s)"
1. What is the word for when you don't believe in a God?
2. What is the word for when you believe there is no God?

These are two different situations, one of them being Atheism. I'm just not sure what the other one is called. And which is which.

Both are atheism. If you don't believe in a god, you're an atheist. The reason for non-belief is irrelevant (as far as definitions go). Atheism covers people ignorant of the god concept, those don't care about religion and never think about it, and those who rejected the idea of gods through reasoning.

We don't really have a word for specifically believing gods do not exist. Anti-theism is, as far as I know, always defined as opposition to belief in gods. So it's not the right one. It's more the word for someone who finds god worship harmful or ridiculous.

If something can be destroyed by the truth, it might be worth destroying.

RE: "I don't believe in God(s)" - "I believe there is no God(s)"
To me it was , looking high and low for God or any sort of non material entity.
I think that = Agnostic

Then it wasn't so much that I could not find evidence for god , but conversely evidence for a man made god brought about by immoral and unconscionable behavior .
that i think = Atheist

But while man made God (our gods) to me may be BS, I cannot know that there is not an actual god unknown to us.

So while i don't believe in our Gods I still won't say here are none.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

Oy. Definitions.

There's about half a dozen definitions for the word "atheism" out there. Your #2 qualifies for pretty much all of them. #1 counts for some of them but not others. If you want to draw a distinction between the two, #2 is "strong atheism" and #1 is "weak atheism".

Some use negative atheism and positive atheism for 1 and 2 respectively.

Generally, both points of view regarding the lack of belief in a god are called atheism.

To me it sounds like those are two different ways to word the same idea: atheism. Not believing in a god means you don't believe there is a god. If I misunderstood, can you elaborate more?

About ten years ago the words would have been:

1. Weak atheism - No belief in God(s).
2. Strong atheism - Believes God does not exist.

I haven't seen those terms used recently though.
