I don't like that Israel blends History and religion into one
Because there are several occasions were archaeological evidence and documents says something else in comparison to bible, jewish or islamic scriptures.

Like there are sources, i found this info on SNL encyclopedia,(Which i like due to good source). It says that people accepted polytheism due to evidential sources that says the early israelites believed in many gods, where in the bible it stated it was monotheistic. Some have said Judaism religion never started until 586–538 bc, when before babylons came and took them captured. And increased when Cyrus the Great let them rebuild Jerusalem again.

Quote:There are few unbiblical sources from this early period, when the country should have been guided by selected "judges". Bible texts tell of wars with its neighbors, and with each other. Many of the characters of these stories are nevertheless been important in Jewish and Christian tradition (Ruth, Hannah, Samson, Jephthah).

We know too little about religion at this time. Biblical texts gives the impression that the Israelites were monotheists from the time of Abraham. The texts show that people accepted that other people had other gods, but that YHWH (Yahweh) was the Israelites' own particular god and protector (Monolatry). The idea of an omnipotent deity who ruled over all nations, and above all, was something that grew over time.
