Christians don't realize they're a cult because they think they're "special". I think they're "special" too but not it the way they think.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Hadn't thought of that. It would be good PR for a zealous Jew who learned (supposedly) the details of his Judaic religion from Gamaliel to be able to be "turned".

Exactly. The really zealous for Judaism guy (Paul) saw the light by discovering the truth...Christianity. This is a recurrent theme in Acts.

Well christianity technically aren't a cult. To be a cult you have to be an minority and not be recognised by people as a organised religion.

Its when many people believe it, then its a religion.

But its true that christianity started as a cult though.

I always thought that the difference between a religion and cult are the amount of members.
In most case yes, it does make sense, they certainly started as a cult.

I read somewhere that that difference between a cult and a religion is 100 years. Basically if a cult can survive the test of time they become socially accepted as a genuine religion.

It's not a cult because it's true.

RE: I don't think Christians realize they're a cult
Or, as is common in fraternal organizations (blackballing members) as well as in--um--JUDAISM, you consider bad ones as write-offs. You don't write about them (unless they are Jesus, who upsets the apple cart so badly he gets written into the Talmud). OH I FORGOT, JESUS DIDN'T EXIST. That was a close one!

Forum members here didn't know Jews "sit shiva" for "apostates" and never speak of them? Really? I don't mind your theorizing, I'm a fan myself, but if you know the first thing about Judaism you'd know why IF Paul was an apostate he didn't make BOOK.

May The Q respectfully ask you to consider historical and cultural contexts when guessing as to why things do NOT appear in certain religious texts (like the Talmud)?

I'm told atheists on forums like TTA are bitter and angry. If you are not, your posts to me will be respectful, insightful and thoughtful. Prove me wrong by your adherence to decent behavior.
