RE: I had a theological debate with myself tonight.
Hmm...
The brain is a harddrive?
No, it is not.
A brain is an organ.
This organ is a network-stucture, formed by neurons and powered by bioelectrical impulses.
How do neurons store memories?
Quite simple, they store nothing at all, they remember them, thats the trick.
The brain didn't store in bits and byts, it echos the incoming impulses from our ears, eyes, skin and nose.
That is the way our short-time memory-system works.
The long-time-memory is working with chemikal markers.
This markers are made from the oxigene and the minerals in your blood.
The brain is able to set markers as placeholders of the original chemical-electrical impulses.
So, if you push the recall-button, the placeholders were decoded as the original impulse.

You are working in the field of psychiatry? Hobo
What kind of work is that? Huh
Do you have an MD? Smartass
From Kent Hovin-University? Shocking
Btw, i am a plumber, i barely finished school, but i read some fancy science-magazines and i try to understand the shit.
Thats an act of will.
So, we will understand the way things work, if we want to.

Like I said, atheism is faith. Religion by another name.

And yet here you are, bothering with this bullshit. Consider

Quote:You've been told several times that Atheism is no religion, that it is not based on faith,

You can tell it until you're blue in the face. But it is a religion, and it is based on faith. "Science." (never any specific science, just SCIENCE) is the god you worship. You theology is the scientific method, and you refuse to consider anything that doesn't fit into it. Your faith is that you believe SCIENCE will provide all the answers you don't have at this time. You want protection as a religion in society with atheist ministers in the military, First Amendment consideration, etc.

You are a religion. You operate by faith. You can deny it all day long; that changes nothing.

Quote: that we have no need for a god and that you're not an Atheist if you believe that there is any kind of god. If you haven't understood it by now, chances are that you never will. Either way, I'm not going to waste my time by repeating what has already been said over and over again.

Yes you will. You will always waste your time doing this, because like all religious people, you derive meaning in your life through the "practice" of your religion. Sleepy

Oh god it's Egor, do not engage! Repeat! do not engage. Talk about gwynies or something.

When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.

You cannot successfully determine beforehand which side of the bread to butter.
