I have a bad feeling about this law

Unfortunately, I couldn't find an English version of the article(s), but I think Google Translator will do the job for you. The constitutional court in Karlsruhe (Germany) introduced a new law on friday that allows military operations within German boundaries. It is supposed to be used only in "extreme danger situations" and in case of "terrorist attacks", both of which cases are defined by the government. According to the press release, it shall not be used against demonstrants and not to shoot down planes that transport innocent citizens. I'm very suspicious about this law, because there has never been a major terrorist attack in Germany and there is no active danger of one happening in near future, meaning: There is no reason for such a law to be released.

For those of you don't know, demonstrants are treated the same way they are in the USA. Police violence, peppery spraying and anti-riot water cannon vehicles.

And here are some images from another peaceful demonstration:

So long as the military doesn't move into the Rhineland... history tells us that it would be a bad omen for things to come. Dodgy

Nah! Nothing to worry about. Not as if Germany has a history of authoritarianism.

RE: I have a bad feeling about this law
You would think if there was a terrorist act that required a nation' military to react on their own soil it would be pretty easy to get court approval. The "war" on terror is a wonderful thing.

I heard something about November being interesting, but I don't pay much attention. Shy

These "peaceful" demonstrations are often the fault of both groups, and not exclusively the fault of the riot police.
