RE: I have a fear of Hell
I was never religious but I suppose that I once believed or wanted to believe in god. It was the concept of hell that was one of the straws that broke the camels back and helped me rid myself of this silliness. It makes no sense at all, that a god who supposedly loves us, will have us burn for an eternity because we use our critical thinking and reject an outlandish tale from two thousand plus years ago. It's nonsense. I may have feared hell at one time, but no more. There is no doubt in my mind that it's all rubbish.

RE: I have a fear of Hell
There is a hell. And you're only going to get so much relief from talking to atheists--who are bound for hell, themselves.

Hell is kind of a mystery. Jesus is the one who really introduces us to the concept of hell, but he speaks of it symbolically and metaphorically. I mean, obviously a spirit doesn't physically burn in hell, but there is a symbology in that. I've never done a comprehensive study of the symbology Jesus uses, because I've never been particularly worried about going to hell.

Nevertheless, here's my advice to you: A human goes two ways; he can go towards being an animal and ignoring the truth or he can go towards being a god and knowing all truth. Anyone who takes the latter path will love Jesus Christ and be saved. Anyone who takes the former will know hell even before they get there. Drinking Beverage

I don't see how anyone can remain unconvinced of the existence of hell after you have made such a plausible and coherent argument that is substantiated so well by evidence.

Oh wait, that's right, you simpleton think that asserting something somehow makes it true. Drinking Beverage

Did you know that early Christians were the ones who made up the concept of a place of eternal torture where unbelievers go after they die? Consider

RE: I have a fear of Hell
Think it that way,

Probably you (maybe "used to") believed a christian hell.

I was born to a muslim family and raised as a muslim. I'm kind of a person that loves rules and stick to it, it took me a traumatic experience to start to question my former religion.
I love to be certain. I love not to confuse my emotions with my intellectual side. But religion is not something you can really disprove as it deals with metaphysical issues. You can only disprove parts of it that deals with the physical world and say "as far as we know, that's bullshit, rest of it is so much likely to be like that too"

My point is, i fear the muslim hell. I can't imagine myself in a christian hell. Maybe I can, after some years of indoctrination with a christian family Smile; but for example, if christianity turns out to be the true religion after death, I still can't believe my grandmother who died as a muslim in hell. When I was a child, I could imagine christians in muslim hell.
If that's a similar case for you, let me know. That will help me cope with my fear too.

Good luck!

Laugh out load

I have laughed, in bitterness and agony of heart, at the contrast between what I seem and what I am!

RE: I have a fear of Hell
If you have any kind of fear for anything after you die, just remember that you won't be human anymore after you're dead.
No human body. Since fear is a human brain function, you also will not have any fear after you die either.

You will have no arms from which someone can bind you. No legs that someone can cause you to trip and fall.
You will have no eyes to see with and no ears at all.
You will have everything you had before you were born.
No torture, no hell, nothing to forelorn

RE: I have a fear of Hell
This thread comes up on the second page search results in Google when you type in "fear of hell".
So it will be a zombie generator.
So for any theist that wants to issue their childish hell threats, you will fry in hell for posting in this thread- God told me so!
