I just had a very surreal experience.
So I'm sitting on my back porch like most days; surfing the internet for anything I can find. I look up to see a couple walking their dog. It's a miniature chihuahua and it yaps too much. There are flower trees all over my apartment complex and as I look up at one I see this couple both stopping to smell the flowers. It was like a scene out of a movie and I guess I thought it profound enough to post about it.

Anyone else recall a surreal moment that made you stop and think for a second?

Just want to add that I love surreal moments in life. To me it is equivalent to psychedelic drugs.

Yeah, man, like every time I read a post from HoC.

RE: I just had a very surreal experience.
A professor mentioned a book today, a thesis made by a local lawyer in 1884, I never heard about it, three hours later I had a seminar, casually their change the place just for this day, to a classroom called "the governors hall", they have a permanent exposition of different stuff that belonged to governors of my province, and there it was, the original printing of the thesis my professor mentioned, I thought it was weird Tongue

Many years ago I attended a weekend seminar with Unity Church, a church with rather unorthodox beliefs.

They held a 'God walk' asking everyone to bring back something spiritual and I saw a dandelion puff ball flower and planned to bring it post walk. As it turned out my flower was missing on the way back.

Later we were asked to discuss anything spiritual and I lied about a strange insect and losing my flower.
'Aha' shouted a guy, a geologist, "I have it " and they all oohed and ah'ed.

Sometime later I visited the home of the minister, an old American woman, who later returned to Unity U.S.A.
Low and behold on her mantle piece was a glass encased puff ball given to her by her daughter.

I realize that coincidences happen all the time and get fobbed off, but I still wonder at times.

The White Dandelion
The cricket match has just started to slow
but the wives are already deep in conversation.
The warped wooden bench
creaks, in time
with rhythmic chatter.
On the field
their husbands
struggle to reach their 50 mark,
before the ulcer or the heart attack.
By the fence,
a baby,
running smoothly into childhood;
sitting on its foot,
dribbling bubbles,
studying the wonder of a white dandelion.
Eventually,
he plucks it,
caring nothing about disturbing
the balance of nature
and stumbles over to the bench.
Toe-heel, toe-heel.
He presents the plant,
in all its aged glory
to his mother.
She accepts it
blindly,
without a glance.
Toe-heel, toe-heel,
he wanders off again.
Seeing this;
a sense of pity.
I’m sure,
years ago,
in such an image,
my mother would have blown,
1 o’clock,
2 o’clock

and I,
would have watched,
bemused,
as the seeds,
danced on the wind
and disappeared.

Maybe the whole of life is surreal and what we experience in these moments is clarity.

For no matter how much I use these symbols, to describe symptoms of my existence.
You are your own emphasis.
So I say nothing.

RE: I just had a very surreal experience.
I feel this a lot when I take photos.

My favourite, though, was when a parade was downtown a few blocks away from my route I was on. The street I was on was quiet and empty, and as I walked the parade was echoing through the tall buildings around me. A tumble weed blew by on the street and I turned a corner and walked by a man in uniform with his bagpipes by him, leaning against a wall and smoking a cigarette. He watched me walk by but appeared to be in deep thought. It felt bizarre so it all turned into this heightened surreal moment. Loved it! Those surreal moments need movie music to accompany them. Big Grin
