Yup... it's pretty common to use a smidge of sugar to take the edge off of acidic foods...

My brother used to put a little bit of sugar in his chili, for the same reason, although he expressed it a bit differently. He said the sugar was to keep it from tasting "too tomatoey".

I love all kinds of pasta and all kinds of sauces that go with it. I make pasta all the fucking time, it's ridiculous. Bolognese, pesto, alfredo, tomato sauces, everything. I could probably live on pasta only.
