I looooooove old movies!
I'm a serious old movie buff. The older the better. Bette Davis, Ava Gardner, Humphrey Bogart, Claude Rains, Greta Garbo. I like em all.

I love to read about all the old stars too and recently discovered this fun gay guy named Steve Hayes who has a youtube channel he calls Tired Old Queen At the Movies. He's such a kick! I share his enthusiasm for this subject.

Damn. I know most of the behind the scene stories he tells. I must be crazy too. Big Grin My mother and I used to watch old movies together when I was like 12. I still remember her watching the old Greta Garbo movie, Camille, and I was transfixed by the black and white shadows on Garbo's face.

Yup, love old movies.

What a face she had.

Me too.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I love Lauren Bacall. Sophisticated and glamorous.

Just watched Gilda last week with Rita Hayworth and she brings quite a lot of impressiveness to a perfect femme fetale Noir role.

Ava Gardner at 17 years old.

This was the photo of Ava Gardner that her photographer, brother in law, had in his studio window in New York City. An errand boy from MGM just happened to see it in the store window and tried to get a date with her, which didn't pan out. It inspired Ava's brother in law to send that photo along with others to MGM who called her in for a screen test.

This is part of the screen test.

I swear, I know too much shit about stuff like this.

I think that was Greta Garbo's first speaking words on film.

I love Bette Davis. She was such a no nonsense gal and didn't take shit from people. She'd fit in very well in today's films, probably be directing and producing today.

I live near the Ava Gardner museum. Back when I was a Barnes & Noble manager, I invited the author of a book about Ava for a book signing. My store did the highest sales in the company. Smile

I looooooove old movies!
Always been an Audrey Hepburn fan. I used to own every movie she ever did. When she quit acting she did so much good work.

She was such a nice lady. Never heard a bad word about her. Loved her too.
