Eastern Popes are not popes at all. Not at least as we know them. The post of Pope is seen as a direct link to god, as in a god on earth as far as catholicism is concerned.

As for places like Ethiopia, mentioned earlier. There were so many variations Constantine called for the council of Nicea. None could agree and Constantine intervened.

There was the Arian controversy and various other problems. In the east there were the later iconoclasms, which did not happen in the west. Likely due to the pagan influence with its long history of idols and statues.

All this is of course worthy of its own thread. So as not to hijack this one, as I am known to do. I shall stop.

It sounds interesting though! You seem to know a lot about this Smile

I read it all. Studied the history of the religion. Studied the religion. Became a minister for fun. Read all the ancient texts blah blah blah.

Now my mind is heavily affected by drugs and it all went to put.

I used to help run Landover Baptist. If that means anything to you. I was like GWG but different.

Nowadays I try to remember what day it is? I think it's Thursday. I could be wrong.

Sadly, this site has never seen me at my best. Smile

And yeah, I know a shit load about it. Wink

NOTE: Member, Tomasia uses this site to slander other individuals. He then later proclaims it a joke, but not in public.
I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

RE: I'm a former _______.
Nothing. I did go to Sunday school but when they got to Jesus and his love for me and he died for me I became an instant skeptic and when I asked the unanswerable questions I got the old "Doubting Thomas" run around. That was the end. I still went to Sunday School because my mother insisted but couldn't see the sense in it.

Still it was years before I realized I was an atheist, now I'm an all out atheist.

Religion is fine for those who need the feeling of security it gives but please don't inundate me with it; any religion.

I honesty don't understand how, in this day and age, anyone can live with only "Faith" to guide them.

BTW Offtopic Trump's Smokin plan to wall off Mexico is a little late since it is already there. Laughat So little time so little space for smilies here.

Today is the best day of my life and tomorrow will be even better.

Why no "None of the above" option? Consider

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

At least the only one that has stuck around.
