I'm giving up.
I've been voting over 35 years. I always considered it to be my duty as a citizen.

Till now.

I'm not voting in the next presidential election - unless some late coming 3rd party candidate comes along who is a true standout....

But the "two party" system???

Those bastards can fuck themselves.

I'm not voting for any any of the ( R ) bozos - because that's what they're offering.

I'm not voting for Hillary - who in my opinion is the most devious, fickle, dishonest piece of crap to ever hold a public office. All you have to do is look at the picture of her on her autobiography -- that's so airbrushed that she looks human for once.... Anyone who's comfortable with that level of deception does not need to be president....

.................

Maybe Pat Paulsen will make a comeback.....

He's dead???? Oh shit....

We're screwed...

That's pretty much where I am now. I've never voted along party lines. But this election has absolutely no one I want as President.

RE: I'm giving up.
Your vote still serves as potential leverage even if you don't put it to use. A vote unused is a statement in itself. I really wish they had a"none of the above" option like they do in some state elections, such as Nevada. I want my discontent to at least be shown in a statistic besides "didn't bother voting."

That said, if I were voting, which I won't since I don't legally claim residence in a state despite still obviously being a US citizen, I'd put it towards an obscure independent to make a similar point. Even knowing they don't have a chance in hell, if 1% more people opt to not vote for the ruling parties each election, it's only a matter of time until they have to take the discontent seriously. To me, that statement is worth more than any of the random issues being debated.

My choices, at this point, would be:

Zoltan Istvan - because even though I think the main stated point of the Transhumanist party is kind of silly (and may even be stated half sarcastically by many of its members in a manner not unlike followers of the flying spaghetti monster), it nonetheless remains the only to be focused on scientific advancement. I firmly believe that we're more likely to be able to tech our way out of the world's most serious problems than we are to solve them through diplomacy or changes in policy that create temporary solutions at best.

or

Souraya Faas - because despite being Muslim, and not being on the same page as me on a number of issues, I find she nonetheless has a much more honest grasp of the problems being faced and, more importantly, is absolutely dedicated to the objective of crushing the two party system.

Regardless of his actual positions, his calling himself a socialist is going to scare a lot of moderate voters and drive down his numbers. It will also motivate the right wing to vote for whichever jackass the republicans nominate. If Sanders gets the nomination I would bet that he'd lose by a comfortable margin.

Clinton I think will also have a lot of the same effect. I really think the democrats have shot themselves in the foot by bringing it down to those two and that we're likely to have a pretty bad 4 years coming up when we end up with one of idiots from the republican side in office.

Anyone wanna make bets as to whether or not there is rioting and a temporary increase in suicide rates immediately following the election regardless of who wins? Tongue

RE: I'm giving up.
I never vote, part of the reason is that I don`t want to give any legitimacy, from a personal perspective , to the rule of any of the candidates, but mostly because voting is always on Sunday so I would have to drag my ass to the voting office and I`m a lazy sob.

RE: I'm giving up.
I don't get this mentality of the, I'll vote for a 3rd party when/if some real power strength comes to it... I've seen that out of hundreds of people.

Yet if mass waves of people who felt that way understood and actually bothered with the point of knowing, you could put that strength in a person there if you actually supported them to begin with to get them to that point. Idk, it's just like saying I want to get on the bandwagon once it's already rolling but not when it is still beginning, But why?

Yeah I'm right there with you. I'm actually thinking of moving to Canada so I really could care less about the u.s. Never really fit in here anyway with the racism on one side and the stupidity on the other.

This two party bullshit is just as bad as a monarchy to me. It's not even really a choice. The last election I didn't vote for the same reasons....didn't trust anyone in it. Everyone is getting a little carried away with Bernie just like Obama and they're going to be just as disappointed due to the high bar they're setting him at. Plus I don't trust him but I don't trust anyone so that carries no weight.
