Star I need some asparagus tips!
lololololol @ tips!!!! Laugh out load

Anyway, I need some help. For the life of me I cannot cook or steam asparagus properly.

I've tried steaming first and fry or grilling on medium/high, but it always comes out chewy or half over/under cooked.

How do you cook it? Prep/temp/time etc.

I'm on a mission, I love aparagus when I can actually eat it!

I bake them. Toss with a little olive oil and salt and pepper. 400 degree oven, for about 5 minutes for super thin, thicker ones take longer.

Poke with a fork when it feels firm but slides in easily they're done. Serve immiediately.

I make a lovely aioli to go with it. Smile

Probably the most foolproof way...

http://www.taste.com.au/how+to/articles/...+asparagus

After pan frying any meats I like to toss the asparagus in with the pan juices as well as a knob of butter and saute for about 2-3 minutes on a med-low heat.

Love asparagus Thumbsup

^^ Like Mom said - I bake. ^^

Or there's the nuker if I'm in a hurry. I just grind some white and green pepper over them(black and red are ok, too) - some people like oil or butter - too heavy for me. Then, I toss them in the microwave (covered or not- I don't) and nuke em about a minute or so - seeing them steam is a good sign. I do not like mine mushy and the nuker is quick. Shy

I get a craving only about once a year for Brussels Sprouts... and it's usually very short lived. When I start wanting to drown them in butter, I know that craving is over. Tongue
