I think I get it now
I did not really get the feeling of wanting to end it all until this morning. I posted in the sibling position thread, and it all came back to me.
It's the overwhelming desire to not feel anything, any more.
Pink Floyd's "comfotably numb" describes how I dealt with it using drugs back in those times.
Is that how it is for those of you who have those feelings?

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

14 flights of stairs amigo. That's no joke.

You just take it one step at a time, and you keep going through sheer bloody-mindedness. I tell myself that when I feel down, so hopefully it'll be helpful to you.

...

Pretty much.

Feel and also think anymore.

Then there's those mind-angels spinning cobwebs of joy and whispering, "Let it be over" and those bastard soul-demons with their incessant reminders of commitments one has made. I hate those cunts!

Hug

I have my moments. My emotions are often overwhelming and many times I'd rather not feel them. I distract if I can with something external like a movie or music. Or I try to tire myself out with running or heavy work of some kind.

And sometimes I pace around the room crying and/or screaming, if nobody's in the house. I find it embarrassing so I put it in small type, but frankly it's about the most effective catharsis I have that doesn't wind up in a hangover or weight gain.

Have you ever felt this way before? It may be good to talk to your doctor if this is a new thing.

If you are feeling really low maybe an emergency hotline would be helpful.

As for 'Comfortably Numb'...I often think of that as a safe place to move through things that can be overwhelming.

Sometimes memories, long buried, poke back through the surface and catch us off guard. I am sorry you are feeling bad. I wish I could offer more than a virtual hug.

Then there's the boxed set, just in time for the holidays.
Self pity
followed by
Self loathing.

Thank you for stopping by my venting. I was on my way to the gym when I got waylaid, now I am finally getting out the door. Endorphins don't let me down Wink
