I went to a christain site, now I feel dirty
And I'm also bored, which is why I'm sharing this. Martin may have been a troll, but it took some guts to jump into a placed inhabited by atheists. So, I'm joining a christian forum, just to hear the other site, maybe even get to hear some reasonable arguments.

While searching for a decent site, I've noticed two things; 1, they have bright backgrounds, and it's starting to hurt my eyes, and 2, I always leave with a sense of filth. I feel compelled to take a shower.

I really need to interact with the religious more. Oh, and any good suggestion for intelligent places where I can learn the religious mindset?

I don't believe Jesus is the son of God until I see the long form birth certificate!

I sometimes visit Christianityboard.com which is a Bible study forum. Though I always seem to get kicked off and my accounts banned. I guess its because I raise such controversial topic when they just want to surround themselves with like minded Christians. I probably make them leave feeling dirty since when I create an account I mark that I'm a Christian so I can have access to posting in their 'Christians Only' threads, which when they finally catch on to my sarcasm the game is up and they get pissed that I infiltrated their club Tongue. If you put anything else (atheist or other) they confine you to a non-Christian thread where you can only talk to the admins about becoming a Christian... boring.

Haha! I've noticed that most boards are Christian only. As we all know, censorship is the most effective argument out there to keep your sheep in their fold.

Too true. That and childhood indoctrination, which I was almost a victim of. Thankfully, I saw the light so to speak.

Unfortunately, it's very hard to find a Christian board interested in genuine, open debate between Christians and atheists. I'll look for one, but to date I haven't found one.
Oh dear Christ, I think I'm going to vomit.

This is quite possibly the most sicky-sweet (and idiotic) piece of bull**** I have ever seen on any website.

Ever.

Now I really do need to take a shower. Gotta wash all the stupid off of me.

Is the world made for us, or are we made for the world? Someone needs to stop and think for a second.

EDIT: In the comments section, there is a smart person (Biowza). HappyCat then calls him/her the devil. Another classic argument of the fundamentalists.

I feel you have duped me into reading that, just so I have to suffer along with you. Damn you and your crafty ways!!!

Ok, I'm off to cry in the shower for a while.

So many cats, so few good recipes.

Interesting how the Administrator (Chad) seemed to get more and more aggressive as he went along.

"Its obvious you just hate GOD and want to stick with your own agenda. What *respectable* person goes to a Christian site to spread lies and obviously knows that Christian do not believe in your gibberish?"

Unbelievable!

I declare TalkJesus a black hole of stupidity.

Well, i used to be an extremely devout christian until i reached the age of reason (16-17), i even worked at a christian summercamp when i was 15 because my priest asked me to. But as for my own experience of the religious mindset i can only say that it was extremely comforting and convenient, every time anything that i couldn't explain happened i could always say "because god wanted it". But when you start thinking about religions in a real critical fashion you simply can not ignore the fact that there is no evidence to back it up.
The religious mindset, at least in my experience, can be summed up in one sentence: Doubt leads to damnation. This is probably the thing that priests (at least here in iceland) emphasize the most, never doubt because doubt makes you stray. So, as a kid, i learned to block all doubt about a god from my mind.
