I would rather be beaten in the head with a sludge hammer but
since there is no person strong enough to do that, I have to do this. I need help. It is about financial aid. You see, I have a few problems when it comes to this. The problems include:
  • Need to find a way to get financial aid without applying having to go to an american school
  • I have not been in school for a year and my grades when I graduate were average at best, so I have to find a way to get need based aid
  • and I say again, I need to make sure I can avoid having to go to an american school just to go to a language school.
  • I have to know whether or not I have to go to the school I put on my FASFA

I have been stressed all day trying to find this stuff out, seeing as nothing has been clear, so I don't feel the best. To add I never feel comfortable posting anything in the side of the forum, but at this point I need to try something.

RE: I would rather be beaten in the head with a sludge hammer but
You can apply for US financial aid and attend a school abroad (FAFSA)
see: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/prepare-for...ernational

For example, many American students study at universities in Canada, which are generally less expensive, even for top schools, and may offer needs-based bursaries for foreign students. (see McGill )

The application process for undergraduate admissions is generally MUCH simpler: no essays, no statement of extracurricular activities, etc. just a transcript.

Good luck Smile

Do you speak and write fluent Japanese? The Japanese will pay you to come.

Nope, not as far as I can tell. You certainly don't need to attend a US school to be admitted to a Canadian university.
In fact, if you graduated with average marks from a European or Asian equivalent of high school (there is a process for establishing equivalence), my guess is that you probably would stand a better chance of being admitted to a Canadian university than if you were coming from an average US high school with average marks, all things considered.
You may need to pass an English language test (TOEFL exam) for admission, depending on the university and program, if English is not your language of instruction, but I doubt you'd have a problem with that.
Feel free to PM me for more specific info, if you like Smile

Unless you are 22yo FAFSA will consider your parents income in any application.
