So liberals in the US are the opposite of liberals in Australia.

As far as terminology goes, what is left and what is right in Australia?

The Liberal Party is 'liberal' in name only, though it was apparently not always the case. Currently they are make up the Government, and represent the reactionary, conservative element of politics; you know, screwing the environment, pushing religion, denying sufferers of 'the gay' rights, enhancing the position of the corporate world, and bumping up the defence force.
The Labor Party is the mainline 'left' political party, currently forming the Opposition, who represent the liberal side (american definition) of politics.
The Green Party usually sits further to the left than Labor.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

I think it might be because many of the issues I really don't give a fuck about and are specific to Australia.
