How is the US supposed to compete with the rest of the world when we have these idiots trying to keep people in the dark ages.

It's the state of American politics that if a town decided to switch from red hydrants to yellow, the opponents of the move would be calling it fascism and socialism.

The problem here is that people actually take it seriously. It's not the nutcase that's the problem, it's the nutcase with support.

If only there was some way to spread rational, empirical-based thinking through the population at large, coupled with a rejection of specious reasoning...

I'd just like to note here that this is a poor argument/concern. We have countries like India, or Saudi Arabia, in which millions of their people are literally living in the stone age, with society as a whole being extremely religious, and yet segments of the population have technologies (medical, scientific, military) which are as advanced as you can get- rivaling any other country in the world.

I'm only saying that technology wise, this isn't a concern. But what is a concern is that millions in poverty that I mentioned earlier.

Oh well, sadly this happens everyday, in every part of the world. I remember teachers in my school days who wanted to incorporate more "progressive" songs in the celebrations of national holidays and they were told off for trying to promote "anarchist" thinking.

"...calling it fascism and socialism"? Since when is socialism bad? Is this an American thing?

These kinds of idiots need to be allowed to drive without seat belts because it infringes on their right to meet their god in a car crash.

Evil_monster

Fascism AND socialism? At the same time? A centralized body of coordinators are directing how a corporate oligarchy should coerce the population... for science!

I think he's just using what he thinks are curse words with extra letters. Maybe he should throw communism, humanism and transcendentalism in there for good measure.

If he chose rationalism and physicalism, he'd be more correct. But that would undermine his own triumphalism.

I AM he who is called... cat furniture.

I believe they were given tax breaks, not actual funding.
